Avenis Energy Pty Ltd (Avenis) is proposing to construct and operate a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Deniliquin NSW, located 6 km southeast of the CBD, adjacent to the Deniliquin substation.

The purpose of the development is to assist the national electrical grid at times of peak demand and in times of emergency. The project will be constructed on private land, approximately 6 kilometres southeast of Deniliquin, NSW. The 120MW / 480MWh BESS project will be located on a development site of approximately 7-hectares and will connect directly into the 132kV Deniliquin substation located to the northwest on an adjacent site.

Construction and operation of the project would involve the following key components:

  • Battery containers
  • Inverters
  • Transformers
  • Cooling systems if required
  • Fire suppressions systems
  • Switch rooms
  • Switchyard
  • New access road to the site
  • Parking, site office and amenities for operational use.
  • Temporary infrastructure, including construction facilities, site offices and amenities, tool and material storage sheds, construction staff car parking, component laydown areas and truck parking and unloading would also be required.
